Learn in the workplace

We believe in a ‘hands on’ approach to learning. As an apprentice you will work with highly skilled people who are there to pass on their skills as you work towards your qualifications.

Go to college too

Get the college experience – usually one or two days each week and get paid to be there! Most of our technical apprenticeships include day release to college.

Gain qualifications

You will achieve nationally recognised qualifications delivered in the workplace and through going to college. Your SIGTA training officer will regularly visit you in the workplace to help you achieve your qualifications.

The earning potential of the best apprenticeships rivals degrees plus, apprentices get paid, which means a salary whilst qualifying, paid holiday, recognised qualifications and a debt free foot on the career ladder.

To join an apprenticeship programme you will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 and above (previously grade C) including maths and English.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is an in-work training programme that allows you to work with professionals in a specific industry. On a Sigta managed programme earn at least £200 per week from day one and gain accredited qualifications in your chosen field.

It gives you a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience to help you kick-start your career.

What levels are available?

Technical/Engineering Standard at Level 2, Duration 24 months.

Standards at Level 2, Duration 12 to 24 months.

Technical/Engineering Standard at Level 3, Duration 42 to 48 months.

Business Administrator Standard at Level 3, Duration 18 months.

Qualifications I will gain?

You will work towards the new Standards apprenticeship which combine both on and off the job training. These are competency based to show that you have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to industry.

You will also complete Functional Skills, helping you achieve a good standard of literacy and numeracy.

The cost of university alongside the uncertainty of obtaining a job afterwards was much less appealing to me. Also I get paid whilst working towards my qualification”.
