Sigta Apprentice Chloe Brown-Felpts

Chloe Brown-Felpts, Littlehampton Town Council

I started my journey as an apprentice in Summer 2019 as I had just completed a year at a University studying a course that I did not think was right for me. After discovering the subject I was studying was not the path for me I decided to look into doing an apprenticeship, this is when I found my job at Littlehampton Town Council.

I applied for the ‘Events and Admin Support Apprentice’ role and was successful. In this role I was the Events Assistant which involved helping the Events Officer plan and deliver events in Littlehampton, run the Tourism pages and also supported the Admin team when needed.

I gained many skills during my time as an apprentice, I now have the skills needed to successfully plan and deliver events, I have knowledge on running websites and social media pages, and admin skills. I would work closely with the community when planning events and working on campaigns which meant I was always speaking to new people and this has massively improved my confidence and communication skills.

At the start of my apprenticeship, I was planning and working at events however when COVID-19 restrictions came into place I had to transfer my skills into the world of virtual events, running online competitions and events for the public to enjoy.

During my apprenticeship, I was guided by the Events Officer and Communications and Marketing Manager who have both taught me such a huge range of skills that I will take with me and apply in further job roles I have. I was supported by Sigta in learning the business admin knowledge which is then applied to my work.
