Sigta Apprentice Emily Jordan

Emily Jordan, Littlehampton Town Council

During my apprenticeship I have learned many invaluable skills and gained a lot of confidence’.

I decided an apprenticeship would be a great experience to learn whilst working in an office environment. Both SIGTA and Littlehampton Town Council gave me an opportunity to do this which I am very grateful for.

During my apprenticeship I have learned many invaluable skills and gained a lot of confidence. This involved working in the Democratic Services Department of the Council working within Committee meetings by creating the Agendas and Minutes alongside my Line Manager.

Throughout my apprenticeship I was heavily supported with monthly tutor visits to go through the work I had completed and set new targets. I was involved in many projects and a variety of work during my apprenticeship as well as leading a project on the Council Priorities. This was an important responsibility as it was an overview of the Councils projects which I was trusted to lead.

I was also given a lot of training opportunities each month to maximise my experience and help learn new skills relating to my role within the Council.

After gaining a distinction in the Business Administration apprenticeship I hope to further my skills within an administrative role or continue working with Councillors doing Committee meetings within a local Council.
