
This course will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills to deal with accidents and emergencies involving babies and young children.
On satisfactory completion and final assessment of the course a certificate vaild for three years will be issued.
Course Content
Initial assessment of the casualty
Resuscitation procedures
Asthma and diabetic problems
Choking
Head injuries including neck and spinal injuries
Seizures including epilepsy and febrile convulsions
Sprains, strains and fractures
Poisoning, bites and stings
Bleeding and shock/burns and scolds/electric shock
Foreign objects
Childhood conditions (e.g. measles, meningitis, croup)
First aid kit and administration of medicine
Priorities of treatment
Basic life support skills (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)
Using the standard contents of a first aid kit
Duration: 2 days
