What is an NVQ?

An NVQ, or National Vocational Qualification, is a work‑based qualification that proves an individual can do their job to an industry‑recognised standard.

  • No classroom attendance
  • No written exams
  • Evidence gathered in the workplace
  • Assessed against real job activities

NVQs are ideal for employees who are already competent but do not hold formal qualifications in the subject area covered by the NVQ.
