Forklift Truck – Safety Refresher Training
SIGTA’s Forklift Truck – Safety Refresher Training course is designed for qualified operators who hold a valid certificate and need to refresh their skills, reinforce safe working practices, or respond to changes in operating conditions. This ITSSAR accredited course supports continued competence, compliance and safe operation in the workplace.
Training is available for counterbalance, reach, and a wide range of other forklift truck types.

Course Overview
This course is intended for forklift truck operators who already hold recognised training or certification and require refresher instruction to maintain safe and effective operating standards. Refresher training is recommended where there have been changes in equipment, working environment or operating practices, or where an operator has not used a forklift for a period of time. In line with ITSSAR guidance, refresher training is typically advised every 3 to 5 years as part of recognised best practice, although this is not a legal requirement.
Delivered onsite at your premises, the course allows instruction to be tailored to your specific trucks, loads and site layout. Training focuses on reinforcing best practice, addressing unsafe habits, and ensuring operators continue to meet the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and recognised forklift training standards.
During this course you will learn
- Reinforcement of legal requirements for forklift operation under PUWER
- Review of operator responsibilities and safe working practices
- Pre‑use checks, defect reporting and daily inspections
- Safe manoeuvring, steering and load‑handling techniques
- Correct stacking, de‑stacking and load stability practices
- Operating safely in confined spaces and shared work areas
- Awareness of site‑specific hazards and pedestrian safety
- Safe shutdown, parking and end‑of‑shift procedures
This course is ideal for trained forklift operators who need to refresh their skills, respond to changes in working conditions, or reinforce safe operating standards.
Your training will be delivered by one of SIGTA’s ITSSAR accredited forklift instructors, each bringing extensive hands-on experience and a clear, practical teaching style.
